A tomahawk steak is a large rib steak, cut about 2-3” thick, with at least five inches of bone left intact. It’s one of the most flavorful and beautiful cuts of beef, just look at all that marbling!

Our favorite way to cook a tomahawk:

  1. Preheat your oven to 250. Salt all sides of your tomahawk.

  2. Cook for about 1 hour in the oven.

  3. Once you pull it out of the oven, throw it on a hot grill, or a hot cast iron on the stove, and cook for 2-4 minutes per side, basting with melted butter (and garlic) as you go.

  4. Pull the steak off your grill and let rest for awhile, topping it with more melted butter (and garlic).

  5. This will ensure that your steak is cooked medium rare and evenly throughout.
